Tableaux vivants after Jacques Réattu.
Jacques Réattu painted bodies under tension, scenes of history and mythology played out like theatre. Two centuries later, teenagers take up these poses. This is neither a school reconstruction nor fancy dress: the photography replays the paintings the way one replays a scene, with its gestures, its light and the slight shift that separates quoting from inhabiting. The young models are not extras. They bring their presence and their own time, and the painting becomes a shooting protocol rather than a model to copy. What remains in the image is less an imitation than evidence: something happened, today, with them.
Commissioned by the Musée Réattu. This project was developed with Julie Mazé, Elisabeth Pouliquen, Claire Durand Imbert, Lise De Luca, Andy Neyrotti and teenagers whose names are given beneath each studio staging. More details in the Orders section.
